CVE-2019-8921

An issue was discovered in bluetoothd in BlueZ through 5.48. The vulnerability lies in the handling of a SVC_ATTR_REQ by the SDP implementation. By crafting a malicious CSTATE, it is possible to trick the server into returning more bytes than the buffer actually holds, resulting in leaking arbitrary heap data. The root cause can be found in the function service_attr_req of sdpd-request.c. The server does not check whether the CSTATE data is the same in consecutive requests, and instead simply trusts that it is the same.

Se ha detectado un problema en bluetoothd en BlueZ versiones hasta 5.48. La vulnerabilidad reside en el manejo de un SVC_ATTR_REQ por parte de la implementación del SDP. Si se diseña un CSTATE malicioso, es posible engañar al servidor para que devuelva más bytes de los que realmente contiene el búfer, lo que da lugar a una fuga de datos arbitraria del montón. La causa principal se encuentra en la función service_attr_req del archivo sdpd-request.c. El servidor no comprueba si los datos CSTATE son los mismos en peticiones consecutivas, y en su lugar simplemente confía en que son los mismos
