CVE-2018-7407

An issue was discovered in Foxit Reader before 9.1 and PhantomPDF before 9.1. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists when rendering U3D images inside of pdf files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a type confusion condition. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.

Se ha descubierto un problema en Foxit Reader en versiones anteriores a la 9.1 y PhantomPDF en versiones anteriores a la 9.1. Esto permite que atacantes remotos ejecuten código arbitrario. Se requiere de interacción del usuario para explotar esta vulnerabilidad en la que el objetivo debe visitar una página maliciosa o abrir un archivo malicioso. Este error en concreto existe al renderizar imágenes U3D en archivos PDF. El problema deriva de la falta de validación correcta de información proporcionada por el usuario, lo que puede dar como resultado una condición de confusión de tipos. Un atacante podría aprovecharse de esta vulnerabilidad para ejecutar código en el contexto del actual proceso.
